Purdue v. Taylor University: Final Score: 13 to 7
10-01-2009 8:49 am
On a beautiful Friday night under the light the Boilermakers faced to Trojans of Taylor University. The game started with a running transition battle as Purdue struggled to clear and maintain offensive possession.
Finally getting the engine started, Purdue, with dominant play at the face-off "X" from Thomas Christenson, were able to establish their offense. The goals then came quick and fast for the Purdue squad with 9 goals to Taylor's 2 in the first half.
Taylor came back fired up in the second half and Purdue's inability to effectively clear the ball allowed the Trojans to come back. Taking further advantage of ineffective slides by the Purdue defense, Taylor was able to outscore the Boilers by 5 goals to 4 in the second.
While Purdue definitely lost the second half, their dominance in the first allowed them to walk away with the "W."
The Hammer (offensive award) went to Bo Dietrick
The Sledge (defensive award) was given to Nate Bromund
The Hustle Shovel (name speaks for itself) was awarded to Linden Kelley
Purdue would like to thank Taylor University for making the trip and wishes them the best of luck in the coming season.
